Histories, Policies and Practices: Examining the Solar PV transitions in East Africa

This project aims to provide an improved understanding of the interface between the state, markets and donors as they develop and diffuse solar PV technology in East Africa

This 3-year PhD research project focuses on sustainability transitions and low-carbon energy innovation in developing countries. The broad aim is to provide an improved understanding of the interface between the state, markets and donors as they develop and diffuse solar PV technology in East Africa. Specifically, the project illustrates the role and mechanisms through which transnational actors and networks enable transitions, and the implications thereof.

The research is being conducted by Padmasai Lakshmi Bhamidipati, under the supervision of James Haselip and Ulrich Hansen.
