Surabhi joined UNEP DTU Partnership in October 2011. Focusing on external and online communications, she manages the Digital Communications portfolio developing and managing content and UNEP DTU’s overall online presence through websites and social media channels. She has recently led the transition to a new web platform for the organization.
She has previously worked in the communications team at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Copenhagen. In addition, she worked as Research Analyst at Global Advice Network, an anti-corruption consultancy based in Copenhagen, and as a Robert Shuman Scholar (Trainee) at the European Parliament in Luxembourg, working on awareness raising campaigns at the Directorate General for Personnel. Prior to leaving India, she worked as a Television Anchor for India’s Parliamentary channel, Lok Sabha TV (LSTV).
Surabhi holds a Master’s degree in Media, Communication and Cultural Studies from Roskilde University and University of London, and a B.A. (Hons.) degree in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi. She is the author of the book ‘Networked Diasporas: Constructing Identity and Community on Social Networking Sites’, 2011 (VDM Verlag). This was based on her Master’s thesis, which by September 2016, had been viewed more than 3000 times, and downloaded 200 times on Academia.edu since May 2010.
