Marco is a Ph.D. Student with enthusiasm for emerging technologies at UNEP DTU Partnership. In this role, he is focusing on the development of blockchain-based green finance and carbon market mechanisms to accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.
In his Ph.D., Marco looks at a number of cases to examine how efficiency gains and enhanced transparency features of blockchain technology can lead to technology diffusion. He further examines the technologies potential as a decentralized and transparent platform to generate trust and possibly disrupt climate action systems through innovative peer-to-peer interaction and governance.
Marco has experience in developing national transparency systems through the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) and the Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT). Additionally, he has managed multimillion-dollar volume projects under the ADMIRE project with external partners across the broader international community in the context of the Paris Agreement. Marco holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and is a Certified Expert in Climate and Renewable Energy Finance by the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
