Project Officer - Climate and Energy

Alejandro joined UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre as a Project Officer in the spring of 2021 to work in the Section for Institutional Development. His work focuses on supporting the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for the NDC Action Project, as well as climate transparency initiatives such as the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) and the Capacity-Building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT). He also works with the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency, assessing the opportunities for decarbonization in the video game industry.

Prior to joining UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, Alejandro worked in private sector companies and think tanks in the field of climate change and circular economy. At COWI A/S, an international consulting company based in Denmark, Alejandro conducted analyses on the opportunities for climate finance in the livestock sector on behalf of the World Bank Group, assessing climate mitigation pathways and investment opportunities identified to channel climate finance into the agricultural and livestock sectors. At Circular Innovation Lab, a Danish circular economy think tank, Alejandro contributed to the proposal and development of national circular economy roadmaps in the Global South.

Alejandro graduated with a MSc in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from the University of Copenhagen. He is fluent in Spanish, English and French, and is currently learning Danish.
