As countries start to implement their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to the Paris Agreement, they need to establish a national accounting system. A system that can track greenhouse gas emissions and removals related to the mitigation objective of their NDCs.

This NDC accounting system will generate the information necessary to report on progress made in implementing and achieving NDCs, aligned with the Enhanced Transparency Framework of the Paris Agreement.

This webinar will present different approaches for tracking NDC action and showcase the Excel-based NDC accounting tool developed by the Environmental Protection Agency of Ghana.

Speakers:

  • Henning Wuester, Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT)
  • Daniel Benefor, EPA, Ghana

The webinar is jointly organized by the Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT) Global Coordination Platform and Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT). Ghana is receiving support from CBIT and ICAT to strengthen its national capacity for transparency and climate reporting.

The CBIT Global Coordination Platform is facilitating peer learning and sharing of lessons learned throughout the implementation of CBIT projects. As one of the countries that first received support from CBIT Ghana is advancing the work to establish a system for tracking progress and implementation of its NDC and its national development network.
